ReproZip

ReproZip allows you to pack your experiment along with all necessary data files, libraries, environment variables and options. Anybody can then reproduce the experiment on a different machine, without tracking down and installing the dependencies, or even having to run the same operating system!

VisTrails

VisTrails is an open-source scientific workflow and provenance management system that provides support for simulations, data exploration and visualization. Whereas workflows have been traditionally used to automate repetitive tasks, for applications that are exploratory in nature, such as simulations, data analysis and visualization, very little is repeated---change is the norm.

noWorkflow

The noWorkflow project aims at allowing scientists to benefit from provenance data analysis even when they don't use a workflow system. Also, the goal is to allow them to avoid using naming conventions to store files originated in previous executions. Currently, when this is not done, the result and intermediate files are overwritten by every new execution of the pipeline.

This GitHub repository holds some examples and use cases from different domains that showcase the ReproZip, a tool developed in-house at NYU aimed at simplifying the process of creating reproducible experiments. It automatically captures operating system calls and creates a package that contains all the binaries, files, and dependencies required to run a given command on the original researcher’s computational environment. ReproZip now is Graphical!

ReproZip is a tool that automatically captures provenance of experiments and packs all the necessary files, library dependencies, and variables to reproduce the results. Reviewers can then unpack and run the experiments without having to install any additional software. Previously, this involved typing 2 commands to pack and then 2 commands to unpack. But now, we've released a graphical interface for unpacking, lowering the barrier EVEN MORE to reproducing another's work.
